Students of Harding’s international campus in Florence shared a friendship toast with Andrea Gorge, Scandicci’s deputy mayor of economics, Saturday morning at local coffee bar Caffé Mario.
Scandicci is the town outside of Florence where Harding's Italy campus resides.
HUF director Robbie Shackelford told students at the toast that it was because of their outstanding attitudes and personalities that the people of Scandicci have a cordial relationship with HUF, a relationship that some HUF students said came from the proximity of Scandicci to the campus.
Since the beginning of HUF, an international campus just outside of Scandicci, students have played an active role in the economy and culture of Scandicci.

A 22-student team will depart early Thursday for Florence, Italy. The team, comprised of students from the College of Communication, was selected out of more than 60 applicants last semester.
