Many actors from Sam Neill of ”Alcatraz” and Ginnifer Goodwin of “Once Upon A Time” have made their way to the small screen. Now many other big name actors are following in their footsteps.

Several new television shows are premiering that feature recognizable stars such as Ashley Judd who has been in several feature films including “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” and Sigourney Weaver who starred in “Avatar.”

“Missing” — This new TV show to hit the TV airwaves is “Missing” starring Ashley Judd. According to Entertainment Weekly, Judd stars as a mother desperately searching for her son, who was kidnapped while studying abroad in Rome. She and her late husband were both part of the CIA and Judd’s character begins to suspect that her son’s disappearance may have connection to her past working for the intelligence agency.

“Political Animals”— Sigourney Weaver will be making her TV debut in this new series. According to the entertainment news website, Collider.com, the Oscar-nominated actress will play a divorced former first lady named Elaine Barrish who recently was appointed secretary of state, which bears striking similarity to Hilary Clinton’s career. The show follows Barrish’s road to overcoming her failed marriage and the loss of a presidential nomination while learning the ropes of her new job. The show is set to premiere this summer.

“Awake” — Starring Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” movies, “Awake” premiered on March 1. After a car crash, Isaacs’ character Britten wakes up to find himself living in two different parallel universes. The series follows Britten’s life from one day to the next. One day, he wakes up in a world where his wife survived the car crash but his son perished. When he goes to sleep, he wakes up the next morning to find his son alive and his wife dead. As a detective, Britten is able to successfully solve murder cases by pulling together different clues from each world.

“Off Their Rockers”— This hidden camera show stars the one and only Betty White, who started off on the 80s sitcom, “Golden Girls,” and recent films, such as “The Proposal” and “Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.” According to the NBC official website, this show premieres on April 4 and features White with a cast of senior citizens who prank the younger, unsuspecting people. Similar to “Punk’d,” this show has comedic stunts and priceless reactions that come from moments like White asking a young girl to sign a petition banning ugly people from reproducing. Ninety-years-old, White will appear in the sketches herself and provide commentary between the pranks that she plays on young people.
